Building Organic Growth from the Ground Up: HomeCraft Supply

HomeCraft Supply, a specialty home and garden e-commerce store based in Portland, Oregon, had a quality product catalog but zero online visibility. They were launching with no search presence, competing against industry giants with massive marketing budgets.

The Challenge

Starting from absolute zero is the toughest position in e-commerce SEO. With no existing rankings, no organic traffic, and an average position of 6.1 (barely on page 1), HomeCraft needed rapid growth to make their business viable. Every day without visibility meant lost revenue.

Our E-commerce SEO Strategy

I built their organic presence from scratch with a focused approach:

  • Created SEO-optimized product pages targeting specific home and garden searches

  • Developed buying guides and how-to content matching customer search intent

  • Built category architecture around high-volume keywords like “outdoor furniture,” “garden tools,” and “home decor”

  • Optimized product images and descriptions for both Google and visual searches

  • Implemented schema markup to capture featured snippets and rich results

The Results

Within three months, the transformation was dramatic:

  • Monthly clicks grew from zero to 12.4K

  • Impressions reached 160K, creating massive brand awareness

  • Average position climbed to 6.1, securing page 1 visibility

  • CTR hit 7.7%, well above the 3–4% industry average

  • Consistent growth trajectory with daily clicks reaching 394

The Business Impact

Organic search became their primary customer acquisition channel. The store went from unknown to discoverable, capturing shoppers actively searching for home and garden products. With strong page 1 rankings and an impressive CTR, they’re now competing directly with established retailers—without burning cash on paid ads.

Conclusion

This project demonstrates that even starting from zero, strategic e-commerce SEO can build a sustainable traffic engine that turns searches into sales.
